AS PUBS ACROSS THE COUNTRY CLOSE for the duration of the coronavirus crisis, a popular north Northumberland gastropub is preparing to offer an M&S-style oven-ready main meal collection service.
“I would appreciate feedback from local people who would be our target users,” said chef-landlord Iain Burn at the Red Lion in Milfield, Northumberland (Tel 01668 216224). “I’d like to gauge how popular it would be.”
The scheme is all but ready to go. Four or five main meal choices – lasagne, cottage pie, chicken or prawn curry etc. – plus vegetarian options will be available and Iain will publish his menu here at www.VoiceoftheNorth.net , at the Red Lion’s own website www.redlionmilfield.co.uk and on Facebook and various village sites and forums.
Orders can be taken by phone (01668 216224) before 1pm on a Tuesday. Meals will then be prepared the following day for collection from Thursday onwards with home delivery available for the housebound
Meals will come packaged in Small (1-2 people), Medium (2-3 people) and Large (4 people) containers and will range in price from £5 to £10 depending on container size.
